Young Researchers within the GDM
It is a declared goal of GDM to help young researchers. Several years ago a graduate colloquium has been established that should foster the exchange across regions and is coordinated by experienced and established mathematics education researchers. Another part of this strategy is the Young Researchers Promotion Award (GDM-Förderpreis) for young researchers.
Contact Persons
Within the GDM advisory board Maike Vollstedt (Kiel) and Alexander Meyer (Hamburg) are acting as contact persons for young researchers.
Mailing list
The mailing list (run in German language) is a way for exchange between young researchers and to contact them. It can be used for job offers, calls for papers or conference announcements and general questions of importance for young researchers. Graduate Colloquium
The graduate colloquia (Doktorandenkolloquium) is a way for young researchers to professionalize their research under guidance of experienced researchers.
The last colloquia took place from 15-18/9/2008 in Potsdam and between 29/9 and 1/10/2010 in Soest (organised by Rudolf vom Hofe.
Financial support for conferences
The GDM supports young researchers who want to take part in the following conferences: Annual Meetings of the GDM; CERME - Conference of European Research in Math; YERME - Young European Researchers in Mathematics Education; PME - Conferences of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education.
Conditions for support are:
- Applicants must submit a presentation to the conference;
- Applicants must not be fully employed at the time of the conference;
- Applicants must be member of the GDM;
Applications should be submitted informally to Karel Tschacher.
Young Researchers Promotion Award
Every two years the GDM chooses an outstanding dissertation for the Young Researchers Promotion Award (GDM-Förderpreis).

The next laureate will be chosen in autumn/fall 2013 and all members of the GDM are invited to suggest potential candidates.
Suggestion should be sent to the chairman of the jury and be accompanyied by a written reasoning of approximately two pages and five copys of the dissertation until August 1st, 2013.
The decision of the jury will be announced at the Annual Meeting 2012 in Weingarten.
